Kings Clipstone Goes Green
Clipstone is a small town near Mansfield most associated with the historical colliery.
However just down the road is Kings Clipstone and there local property developer Keith Laver has began his new project which involves the installation of a Sedum Roof located at the rear of the property.
Mr Laver opted for a Plug Planted Roof which will allow the various types of Sedum to spread and localise in their most suitable environments.

Chessington World of Adventures - Zebra Enclosure Earlier this year we won a bid to install a Sedum Roof onto the new Zebra enclosure at Chessington World of Adventures, London. Originally the customer required a green roof but subsequently due to reduction in funds they decided to have this done on a later date. We amended the idea of using blankets and replaced them with Sedum Seeds; we also lowered the amount of soil required by including some of our own recycled clay from reclaimed tiles left in the yard. We spent three days at Chessington and we look forward to our return to assess the growth of the Sedum. |
Guargian Croft - Green Roof Systems Install in Scoraig - NW Scotland
After taking an enquiry for a sedum roof from North West Scotlan, earlier in the year, Green Roof Systems carried out the installation in April 2010.
The croft house was in the form of a geodesic dome, and despite the structure being a wonderful bit of craftsmanship there was obviously loadbearing concerns – hence the use on of a lightweight planting medium.
The trip over Little Loch Broom was the only feasible way to get our materials and equipment over to the croft house – so we really were at the mercy of the weather and tide. Andrew Rivett – our client had kindly agreed to transport everything on his little boat ’Tilba’ which performed miraculously over the week.
The membrane used was a 1.5 weldable EPDM system with a lightweight rockwool/clay planting medium for the sedum to sit on. Scoraig is a beautiful place, home to some really interesting guys like Andrew who seek the peace and tranquility of this beautiful corner of Scotland.
The wildlife was also pretty spectacular. We saw Seals, an Otter, Gannets, Razor Bill and possibly an Eagle (we weren’t certain!) as well as some of the most spectacular scenery in the UK.
